Being an engineer is a really varied job. You are always being challenged to solve problems or meet requirements. It can be tough but it’s also exciting and very rewarding.

You can expect to do all kinds of things, and some will be easier than others. But meeting challenges is all part of being an engineer.

Engineers do quite a lot of mathematics and programming as well as work with different people to make sure that they understand the problems that need to be solved and others understand their answers to the problems. It is hard if you don’t like math, or if you don’t like people. But if you are interested in maths, like working with other people, and want to solve problems all the time, you will enjoy being an engineer.

It is hard for some and less hard for others – it is really about weather you like the sort of things engineers do: figure out things, fix things, improve things…

Some things are hard to understand, but to the engineer, that makes those things all the more interesting!

If complicated things annoy you, steer clear of engineering!
